Honoring the legacy of the Palisades Parks Interstate Commission and the Greenwood Lake Firefighters
Last Thursday the Palisades Parks Conservancy hosted its annual gala at Ross Dock in the New Jersey Palisades celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. The event brought together nearly 180 guests for an evening of scenic views, live music, and love for our public lands beneath the iconic Palisades cliffs.
Highlights of the evening included celebrating PIPC Commissioner Kevin Tremble, who recently retired from the Conservancy’s Board after 24 years of dedicated service, and honoring Liz Van Houten for her remarkable 44-year career with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.
The Greenwood Lake Fire Department was also recognized for their vital role in combating the Jennings Creek wildfire in Sterling Forest State Park. They accepted recognition on behalf of all 1,300 firefighters, from over 400 fire companies, who worked to contain New York’s largest wildfire since 2008— protecting both natural habitats and nearby communities.
The Conservancy extends heartfelt thanks to all attendees and sponsors whose support ensures the continued preservation and enjoyment of all 29 Palisades Parks and Historic Sites for generations to come.
Thank you!
