Happy 10th birthday, E4A!

For ten years, E4A has been focused on funding research that addresses root causes of health inequities and advances tangible, actionable solutions for historically underserved communities. This milestone is a testament to the collective effort of our past and present program staff, grantees, and partners who share our commitment to fostering racial and Indigenous health equity. As we reflect on the progress made, we are energized by the continued opportunity to drive meaningful change through anti-racist and anti-colonial research. Co-hosted the Ways of Knowing Symposia: series of five collaborative events focused on transforming the health science knowledge system to foster a more inclusive and equitable standard for health research

Influenced the trajectory of health research beyond the healthcare and public health fields, funding research focusing on topics such as state firearm policies, gender equity, workplace wellbeing, transportation equity, and more.

What We're Reading

Dismantling Racism: A Resource Book

Dismantling Racism: A Resource Book, put together by Western States' RACE (Research and Action for Change and Equity) Program, analyzes race in an institutional and cultural context and offers ways for organizations to engage and increase their anti-racist development through storytelling, poems, diagrams, activities, and other helpful resources. Although written in 2003, this resource continues to be relevant today, especially as organizations push forward with racial equity work in the face of political oppression.

Funding Opportunity

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) released a new Call for Proposals (CFP) through the Systems for Action (S4A) Research Program. This CFP will provide research funding for community-led pilot studies that test the feasibility of new interventions designed to dismantle and disrupt forms of systemic racism through the alignment of medical, social, and public health systems. To learn more about the application process, S4A is hosting an informational webinar on Tuesday, February 24 from 1-2pm ET.

Call for Proposals

A grant opportunity through a collaboration between The Urban Institute and RWJF invites eligible nonprofit organizations in the U.S. to apply for funding to collect, analyze, and use data to address inequities in the physical, economic, and social conditions of a place.

Convening

Advancing maternal health equity: How can research, policy, and advocacy inform solutions? Too many women still face unnecessary risks in pregnancy and childbirth. We need evidence-based solutions that tackle real barriers—bias, economic instability, and systemic barriers.

Researchers, policymakers, providers and community advocates will come together with Policies for Action at The Urban Institute on February 27th from 1-4pm EST to talk about evidence, experience and policy solutions.
