Celebrating Crosby Scholars 30th Graduating Class

We are honored to celebrate the achievements of Crosby Scholars seniors in our 30th graduating class! We are very proud of the hard work and dedication of all our graduates and their families in the Class of 2023. Our 1,054 seniors who are graduating from high school are among 11,000 students in the Crosby Scholars Program!

Class of 2023 Snapshot

  • 1,054 seniors enrolling in 134 different colleges and universities.
  • 419 Executive Director Award of Distinction (EDA) Recipients: Students who completed all Crosby Scholars requirements from 6th-12th grade without missing a deadline.
  • Seniors completed over 15,470 community service hours.
  • With the support of our generous donors and community partners, $216,350 was awarded in scholarships to 92 students.

We continue to process applications for Last Dollar Grants, which provide up to $1,200 per year for up to four years if a Crosby Scholar has unmet financial need to enroll in college. We were thrilled to to host our 17th Annual Crosby Scholars Invitational in May, which raised over $354,000 for Last Dollar Grants and programs.

To our community partners, donors and friends we thank your for your continued support of Crosby Scholars! Your generosity allowed us to serve our 11,000 middle and high school Crosby Scholars and families, as well as provide support to help over 5,000 Crosby Scholars stay in college. As our Crosby Scholars alumni community grows to 14,264 students, thanks to you they know Crosby Scholars is For College and For Life.

Crosby Scholars Class of 2023 Michael Nachman Scholar

Congratulations to Robinson "Ross" Claytor of Mount Tabor High School, our Michael Nachman Scholar for the Class of 2023!

The Michael Nachman Scholarship is an $8,000 scholarship awarded to the Crosby Scholars senior who holds the highest cumulative weighted GPA at the end of the second semester of senior year, and who successfully completes the Crosby Scholars Program.

Ross shared, "I think that the most important thing is being able to look around and identify community needs and help others." Ross is most proud of being able to use his skills to give back to others in need through creating an education company where he teaches math and software development.

"The Michael Nachman is a great award that will definitely help me and others in the future receive a higher education and use that education to make the world a better place," says Ross.

Ross will attend Columbia University.

Class of 2023 Awards and Scholarship Recipients

The Crosby Scholars Community Partnership congratulates the Class of 2023 Awards and Scholarship recipients! These young leaders attended a public high school in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and completed at least three years in the Crosby Scholars Program—and some as many as seven years. They make school a priority, volunteer in their community and exhibit strong leadership qualities they gained by attending Crosby Scholars academies.

It is the vision of the Crosby Scholars Program to ensure that every public school student in Forsyth County has the opportunity to attend college. Over the past 30 years we have awarded 10.1 million dollars to Crosby Scholars graduates. This year, we have awarded $216,350 in Scholarships to the Class of 2023. The following recipients have been recognized at our Senior Honors Celebration, Crosby Scholars Invitational Sponsor Dinner or Breakfast of Champions events.

Roy Williams admitted he was upstaged by Reagan student on Tuesday morning. And he didn't mind one bit.

Scott Sexton, Winston-Salem Journal

BERMUDA RUN — Roy Williams, even in retirement, isn’t used to being upstaged.

Wherever he goes, thanks to well-documented success as a college basketball coach, Williams rightfully receives the star treatment.

Head tables, handshakes and a line of fans asking for cell-phone photos typically await during his public appearances.

It was no different Tuesday morning when Williams, the keynote speaker at the annual Crosby Scholars Breakfast of Champions banquet, strode into a ballroom at the Bermuda Run Country Club.

Until 18-year-old Bridget Johnson, a graduating senior at Reagan High bound for UNC Greensboro this fall, took her turn at the podium to read an inspirational poem she’d written about her young life.

“It was off the charts,” Williams said afterward. “That was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever heard.
