Greetings to our friends,
Celebrating our sixth year at the Greater Hayward House of Hope fills us with gratitude. Time and again, we see God’s hand at work—breaking chains, restoring families, and giving men the hope of a new life in Christ. We’d love to share just a few of the moments from 2025 that remind us why this ministry matters.
But first, thank you. The prayerful support and faithful gifts of so many like you are nothing short of essential. As a faith-driven recovery program without access to most government funding, we rely on partners like you to help change lives.
And without further ado, here’s what has transpired at the House of Hope so far in this year:
Praises:
- For staff who continue to grow in their faith and leadership skills as they guide men out of the downward spiral of addiction.
- The House of Hope has been officially added to the Department of Corrections’ approved list of faith-based programs, expanding our reach into neighboring counties.
- We were blessed with a reliable vehicle that allows us to safely transport multiple men to appointments, church, work and activities.
- Several generous financial gifts were received that allow us to fund key initiatives and position the ministry for growth.
- Overwhelming community support - through donated goods, services, and volunteer labor - has helped us continue renovating the Phase 3 House where graduates can live short-term while they secure employment and permanent housing.
- We are seeing encouraging results from the Phase 3 program among graduates who need a little extra support before transitioning to full independence.
Lives impacted:
- Since the program began, thirty-two men have been served; eight remain clean, sober and are in ongoing contact with us.
- Two graduates have opted into the Phase 3 continued-care program and are doing exceptionally well.
Current initiatives:
- Phase 3 house porch renovation, which will add a fifth bedroom and allow us to serve an additional graduate.
- Replacing exterior siding and completing the trim painting to finish the Phase 3 House renovations.
- Continued development and training of our staff leadership team.
Prayer Requests:
- For consistency, strength, and endurance for our current participant(s) and staff.
- That our resident participant comes to faith and truly discovers who Jesus is.
- That our phase 3 participants - now employed with local construction companies and living sober lives - continue to grow and thrive.
- That God equips our leaders to share the gospel of grace in a way that produces lasting, God-honoring change.
- For freedom from the bondage of addiction and the daily struggles that the men face.
God bless you for your prayers and support,
Michael Murphy
