CELEBRATING VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH
|
I heard a little rumor, don’t know if it is true…
About our awesome volunteers and all the things they do!
Though the last two years, let’s just call them, “Covid crazy” …
Volunteers helped when allowed and you were anything but lazy.
You’ve answered the phones and doors, attended charity events…
You’ve served sandwiches and lent your ear without asking for nary a cent.
The charity couldn’t do it without you who knows where we would be?
The best of the best volunteers volunteer at RMHC!
|
|
We wish there was a way to express just how grateful we are to all of our volunteers. Whether you volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House®, the Ronald McDonald Family Room®, cook meals or bake goodies for our families, help out at our fundraising events, or help on other projects, we appreciate each and every one of you! Thank you for all the selfless acts of love you show our families. You truly are Earth angels! Happy Volunteer Appreciation month!

PARTNERS: PROJECT SEARCH INTERN
|
|
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families. So, when we were approached to help support the Project SEARCH Lee County program, hosted by Lee Health at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida & Health Park Medical Center, we jumped at the opportunity!
Project Search is a ten-month school-to-work transition program for students with disabilities. The program includes total workplace immersion at Lee Health, classroom instruction, career exploration, on-the-job training and job development support. RMHC serves as one of the participating Lee Health Project SEARCH departments.
Thus far, we’ve had the pleasure of working with three Project Search students. This year, we were honored to have Brennan on board with us! Brennan was helpful, hilarious and all-around a kind young man! We will miss having Brennan around so much! Learn more about Project SEARCH Lee County here.

COULD YOU BE OUR NEXT VOLUNTEER?
|
|
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Southwest Florida programs and events are supported by 1000+ volunteers who dedicate their time, talent, knowledge, and resources to ensure we can serve families and children who need our help.
Volunteers help in many ways:
- Support families and staff at the House
- Assist families in the Family Room at Golisano Children’s Hospital
- Help at our fundraising events
- Host "Wish List Drives" or other third-party fundraisers
- Participate in our Family Meal Program by cooking dinner for our families
- Prepare fresh baked goods in our kitchen for our families on the go
- Provide a compassionate ear to families who need a friend to talk to
- SO MUCH MORE!
Our Family Room needs volunteers! We are looking for individuals with a flexible schedule, and able to volunteer for a few four-hour shifts per month. Here are the available shifts:
Weekdays:
8am-12pm, 12pm-4pm, 4pm-8pm
Weekends:
10am-2pm, 2pm-6pm
Please note: House volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Family Room volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and complete a Lee Health Volunteer Application provided by Volunteer Manager Illeny Farese, in order to volunteer at Golisano Children’s Hospital. If you are interested, please fill out our volunteer application. Thank you!

UPDATE ON THE BEYLAND FAMILY
|
|
You may remember the Beyland's story that we shared with you almost a year ago. Matt and Kirstin Beyland arrived in Punta Gorda, FL in February on vacation to enjoy the sun before the birth of their second child. They never dreamed that their baby would be born premature, or that our Ronald McDonald House® would become their home-away-from-home. You can watch the video of their story here.
We were thrilled to receive photos and a sweet note for Valentine's Day, updating us on how the two girls were doing. "RMHC of Southwest Florida will forever hold a special place in our hearts! Karen & Illeny, we miss laughing with you! We will definitely stop by to visit our next trip to Florida... but this time we will NOT be staying with you! =) " -The Beyland Family
We are so happy to see this family doing so well. It is because of supporters like YOU that we can help families like the Beylands. Consider a donation today to help RMHC SWFL continue to serve children and families in need!
