Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day
April 22, 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day, a global celebration of our planet. Learning about environmental challenges and taking action to solve them has never been more relevant than it is today. Earth Day is about more than just planting trees or pledging to recycle. It’s about connecting with one another to improve the wellbeing of our planet and everyone who lives on it. In the face of global climate change and global health crises, we can all work together to build stronger, more resilient communities. This April, we invite you to engage with our Earth and its inhabitants in whatever ways that you can.

Cultivate Healthy and Resilient Habitats
Cultivate Healthy and Resilient Habitats
is one of seven actions areas outlined in Princeton University’s
Sustainability Action Plan
, which was released in April 2019. The university seeks to regenerate representative native habitats in its campus planning, with immediate emphasis on its forests, while using new strategies to invite the campus and broader community to engage more with nature. In this new video, Shana Weber, director of the Office of Sustainability, discusses how paying closer attention to nature has benefited her own life, and new research that suggests time in nature can improve everything from mood to academic performance.
