Welcoming the Class of 2021
Meet the newest members of the Michigan Public Health alumni community, including the first cohort of MPH graduates from our online Population and Health Sciences program.

The Class of 2021 included 550 individuals from across the globe with a unique range of backgrounds and interests. They share a desire for greater impact and a common pursuit of a healthier, more equitable world. As scholars, advocates, and leaders, their public health journeys brought them together from 32 states and 11 countries. Their interests ranged from reproductive justice education to safety protections for workers, families and communities and so much more. Now they join previous classes of graduates and enter a world that needs their public health expertise.

The Michigan Public Health community continues to be unified by its compassion and drive to create positive change and lasting solutions.
Thousands of people joined the live graduation ceremony on April 29 in celebration of our graduates!

Welcome to the Summer Edition of The Standard. A very warm welcome to the Class of 2021 receiving this newsletter for the very first time.

You are now a part of an accomplished network of more than 17,000 Michigan Public Health alumni. We hope that you continue connecting with your Michigan Public Health community through the school's exclusive online mentoring and networking platform -- now with nearly 3,000 students and alumni.

In August, we will launch the pilot of our Alumni-to-Alumni Mentoring Program on this platform.Sign up today.

As I wrap up my first year at Michigan Public Health, I am deeply grateful to you, our generous alumni community, who continue to provide incredible support to your alma mater. Last year, more than 1,000 alumni served as mentors, guest speakers, internship preceptors, and more. Many also deepened their impact by making a gift to the SPH Fund ensuring students have access to an SPH education and faculty have the resources they need to continue cutting-edge research. Thank you.

The summer months provide a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the year that has been--and what a year. So many of you were directly or indirectly involved in response to the pandemic, and we’re proud and grateful to you. With continued best public health practice, I’m hopeful that I’ll have the chance to meet many of you here in Ann Arbor, or across the world in your communities.

Go Blue!
