Friends,

Today we join more than a thousand Jesuit schools and ministries across the world in celebrating the Feast of St. Ignatius! This special day, the anniversary of Loyola’s death in 1556, presents us with an opportunity to pause and reflect on our Ignatian heritage and shared mission. Several of our faculty and staff gathered in Cadigan Hall for an intimate Mass celebrated by Rev. Patrick Nolan, SJ.
On this day of reflection I am reminded of the incredible work we accomplished in the past year - and the great promise of what is yet to come. I have already heard so many stories from our community about the things they have done this summer and the places they have worked, served, and studied. I am eager to learn how those experiences enrich our whole school when we come together once again in September.

As we look toward the beginning of a new school year, I ask you to join us for the Mass of the Holy Spirit on Friday, September 6. This will be the first opportunity for our community to gather as a whole and set our intentions and hopes for the year ahead. Most importantly, we will officially welcome Adam Lewis to BC High and mission him as the principal of our school. I know you will join me in praying for Adam and wishing him well! AMDG,
Thank You! A Historic Milestone for the Fund for BC High
BC High's fiscal year closed on June 30 and I am humbled to say that the goal for the Fund for BC High was met - and exceeded! The historic generosity of this community will support the 49% of our students who receive merit and financial aid and bolster the very best co-curriculars, spiritual formation programs, artistic performances, athletics and more. Our school is stronger because of you.

Congratulations to Vice President for Institutional Advancement Kelly DeGregorio and the Office of Advancement on this tremendous accomplishment. They worked diligently throughout the year to gather support for our school and our young men. I am tremendously grateful for the support of all the alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of BC High who made this possible!

Cape Cod Reception at Ocean Edge Resort
It was wonderful to see so many alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends at Ocean Edge Resort this month as we welcomed Principal Adam Lewis and celebrated a historic year for the Fund for BC High. Special thanks to Linda and Mike Corcoran ‘82, P’17, ‘19 for hosting! To see more photos from the day, visit this link.
60th Reunion for the Class of 1959
Last month, the Class of 1959 was on campus to celebrate their 60th Reunion with a liturgy service and reception in Cadigan Lecture Hall. I am always glad to see our alumni come home for reunions, when they can return to the very halls and grounds where so many fond memories were formed. These men are a living legacy to the wonderful history of BC High - as young students they took classes in a newly-built McElroy Hall, and as Golden Eagles they celebrate each other in beautiful Cadigan.

Jim Norton ’59 P’86, ’88, ’92, ’94 GP’21, ’22 summed up this sense of history perfectly: “When we were Seniors in high school the Class of 1899 was celebrating their 60th from BC High – how time flies!”

On the Boulevard and Beyond
The summer is not a boring time for our Eagles! Here's just a glimpse of what has been happening on the Boulevard and beyond:

  • Several Hyde Center and service trips are currently in action across the country and world! Follow us on social media for regular updates on their experiences, like this video from Syracuse, where Nick Argento and Amanda Adamczyck P'21 traveled to New York with a group of BC High students for a service immersion retreat with the Brady Faith Center and LeMoyne College. They served, prayed, and learned in the Syracuse community alongside organizations like St. Lucy’s Church, A Tinyhome Home For Good, the local L'Arche Community, prison ministries, and With Love restaurant school. For a full reflection on the retreat visit this link.

  • On my travels this summer I had the opportunity to visit with Dan Mullin ’60 and Anastasia Egeli, a noted Cape Cod artist, who did his portrait in Provincetown.

  • Dozens of Eagles, family, and friends came out for the Alumni Summer Social at Coppersmith! Special thanks to our guest speaker Tom McAuley '06, founder of the Daily Number.

  • BC High Rowing visited England earlier this month to compete in the Henley Regatta. While there, the boys were able to celebrate Sunday Mass with fellow Jesuit students from St. Joe's Prep Crew. Great racing from our Eagles and a tremendous global experience.
Congratulations to the Athletic Hall of Fame's 2019 Inductees!
I'm proud to announce this year's outstanding Hall of Fame class. Join us on Tuesday, November 26 as we induct our next class of stellar Eagles and community leaders into the BC High Athletic Hall of Fame.
