Hi Neighbors,
We are officially in the final month of 2024!
From fun-filled events to securing crucial funding for our neighborhoods, this year has been full of joy and accomplishments. And, I want to thank you all for being engaged with my office and making this year one to remember.
December is a time for festivities and as you're shopping for the holidays, I encourage you to shop local and help invest in our District 8 community. Whether you're looking for a dish to bring to your next gathering or a gift for a special someone, our businesses have you covered!
If you're looking for a fun way to spend time with your family, friends, and neighbors, I invite you to stop by for a photo with Santa at the Evergreen Village Square, or enjoy our District 8 Night on the Jingle Bell Stage at Christmas in the Park. Check out the flyers below for more details.
Additionally, you can join us in embracing the season of giving by donating to our Winter Coat Drive, in partnership with Mary Escobar, the Evergreen School District, and the San Jose Public Library. Donate a new or gently used sweater, coat, or jacket of any size and help us break last year's record! Find a drop-off location near you by clicking here.
It is my pleasure and privilege to serve as your City Councilmember,

Sikh American Awareness & Appreciation Month
During the November 19th City Council meeting, I had the pleasure of proclaiming November as Sikh American Awareness and Appreciation month. I was joined by Dilpreet Bhandal, the first Sikh American San Jose planning commissioner in over 20 years, to accept the proclamation.
District 8 is home to one of the largest Sikh American communities in the state, and the largest Sikh Gurdwara outside of India. For decades, Sikh Americans have proudly impacted San Jose, contributing to our diverse culture, so let us come together to celebrate the Sikh culture, heritage, and faith.

Janet Gray Hayes Rotunda
Long overdue but finally here: the Janet Gray Hayes Rotunda!
Janet Gray Hayes was a trailblazer as the first woman to be elected mayor in San Jose, and the first woman elected mayor of a major U.S city. During her time as mayor, she was a strong advocate for district elections and smart urban growth planning.
