OpenNotes Joins PCORI-Funded Study to Advance Equity in Health Research


OpenNotes is proud to announce its participation in the Characterizing Engagement and Equity in Research (CHEER) study, an initiative led by researchers at the University of Colorado. Funded by a $2.1 million award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the CHEER study aims to improve methods of engaging diverse and historically underrepresented communities in health research. American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Medicine: "Is Routine Discharge Enough?"


A recent publication in the American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AJHPM) reveals that up to 40% of participants receiving palliative care reported incomplete education at discharge on critical topics. BMJ Oncology: "Advancing cancer care through digital access in the USA"


This state-of-the-art review in BMJ Oncology by Vanderbilt University Medical Center, OpenNotes, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center analyzes literature involving portal use by patients with cancer and their care partners. According to the review led by Uday, et al, patient portals play an important role in helping patients manage their cancer care, but there is room for improvement. Read more. (open access 🔓)

OpenNotes Teams Up with ASTP to help with SDOH Digital Health Initiatives


A new report by the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy (ASTP) and OpenNotes aims to shed some light on how to improve the interoperability of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) data by hearing the perspectives of patients, care partners, and providers. Learn more about the findings from 20 focus groups looking at current and potential future ways to collect, document, and utilize SDOH while taking both patients' and clinicians' concerns and needs into account.
