Welcome June and let the celebrations begin! June not only marks the official beginning of summer, but along with it comes Juneteenth, Father’s Day, Pride Month and African American Music Month. Let's not forget the graduations, weddings and family barbeques! Not to sound like a broken record, but while gathering and celebrating let’s be aware of the Covid guidelines – it’s not over yet. If you are not vaccinated, please give it serious consideration. Remember that the unvaccinated should still wear a mask to protect themselves and others. This month’s PowerPoint gives ideas on celebrating Juneteenth with your children. I encourage you to really reflect on the meaning of freedom, equity and social justice especially in light of the events of the past year. While speaking of freedom, I know that everyone has spent way too much time in their homes with the kids over the past year. Please see the resource guide for get out of the house fun things that you can do together. – Beverly Weathington, LMSW
