News

On Saturday, November 11, we kicked off work on our new 5-home affordable housing development in Ashland with a community event.

We had some special people in attendance:

  • Perry Hickman, U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, State Director
  • Sue Dibble, Hanover County Government Board of Supervisors
  • John Hodges, Town of Ashland, Virginia, Vice Mayor
  • Pam Sopall, Newly elected Town of Ashland, Virginia Town Council Member
  • Staff from Virginia Housing

Habitat also celebrated its 80th Home Groundbreaking with Christopher Jackson, the future home buyer of the first home in STAR. Chris is a single dad with a young son. He is excited to start this new chapter in his life. Read his bio here.

Habitat anticipates this development to be finished within the next 18 months. Families for all 5 homes have already been identified. We are not accepting applications for these lots. See more pictures from our kickoff event online here.

To make this neighborhood a reality, we need financial support from the community. Please consider making a gift to help build Chris and his son’s home. To donate via credit card or bank account, click here.

Cars for Homes

Did you know that by donating your vehicle to Habitat you can help build and repair affordable homes while also helping the environment? Our National vehicle donation program, Cars for Homes, accepts vehicles for reselling or recycling, raising funds for your local Habitat to partner with local families to build stability and security that a safe affordable home allows. A vehicle does not have to be running, but it must be whole and have four inflated tires so it can be moved. Donating a vehicle is fast and easy - visit us online or call 1-877-277-4344.
