FUTURE FUND GOES TO THE GARDEN
|
Future Fund came together in July for a special Service Day at PDY&F Community Garden, a space dedicated to feeding Greensboro, educating the community, and fostering the next generation of Black and Brown farmers. The event was more than just a volunteer opportunity; it was chance to connect with others who share a passion for community growth and environmental sustainability.
Participants worked together to cultivate the garden, contributing to a project that directly impacts the well-being of our community. Through hands-on activities and meaningful conversations, we learned about the incredible work PDY&F is doing and how their collaboration with the Future Fund is making a lasting difference in Greensboro.

NEW ART AHEAD FOR WINDSOR CHAVIS NOCHO COMMUNITY COMPLEX
|
The Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex facility has new artwork on the way! The collaboration between the City of Greensboro and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro’s Public Art Endowment (PAE) meets the common goal of placing public art that benefits Greensboro’s cultural and economic landscape. This project spreads the considerable impact of public art to underserved areas and populations of Greensboro and will highlight the historical significance of this East Greensboro neighborhood.
The City and the PAE desire a work of art that represents the community’s input on the designs and highlights the uniqueness of the project into a true community hub. The total project budget will be $146,000. The final artist will collaborate with EVOKE: Studio/Architecture to plan and facilitate a community engagement process to solicit community input on public art prior to submission of a conceptual design. A Collaboration Committee was formed from community stakeholders, City staff, architects and Public Art Endowment representatives to select the artist from the following three finalists:

“This project is particularly appealing to me as it aims to reach underserved populations and highlight the historical significance of the East Greensboro neighborhood—efforts that are close to my heart. I am excited about the possibility of making a lasting impact through a participatory art-making process that engages local residents and honors their stories and heritage.”
“For the Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex project, I envision a collaborative effort with the architectural team, stakeholders, and community members to create a visual system of symbols and icons. Through hands-on workshops focused on mark making in clay and developing meaningful symbols, we can begin the creative process together. These elements will embody Greensboro's Black community's historical significance and cultural heritage, highlighting the untold stories of East Greensboro.”
Jerrell Gibbs, a Baltimore-born artist, intricately explores life's tapestry through personal narratives, weaving experiences from his own life and community. His authentic paintings capture moments of joy, beauty, and the mundane, inviting viewers to reflect on shared human experiences.
