TRUST
It is the cement that holds together what we believe to be true. Building an unshakable trust in God is a process in our journey of faith. The first layer of faith is information. Some of us are taught about Christian faith in Sunday School, others as they grow up and mature. But without the information about God in Christ there is no salvation story.
Our understanding of this information comes from sermons, small groups, radio and videos about faith, and of course Biblical understanding. We can know the Bible stories, but we need the understanding to see how the stories and truths of Scriptures apply to us individually.
This is the head knowledge: the information that leads to understanding God’s story as it relates to our lives. But this isn’t enough. We can acknowledge that our understanding may be true, but to get to faith, it needs to move from our head to our heart.
It is from our hearts, our deepest personal understanding, that what we know is true. We want to do our best to lead our life in this way. We know the facts, and we say we believe the facts.
But, even at this point, our faith isn’t real. It is not until we can walk out knowing God will uphold us. It is when we can walk out in the storms of life in faith. It is at this point that through our faith, we can find comfort and assurance that God keeps his promises: He will never leave you or forsake you. God works all things for good for those who TRUST him and are called to His purposes. He gives strength to the weary and grace to the sinner.
You can read of God’s faithfulness in Scriptures, and hear about how it has sustained people you know, but it becomes solid for you when you trust God in the storms of life. There will be frightening moments or hurtful moments in your life, but you can lean on God’s faithfulness and know that God will heal the hurt and calm your fears in the worst of times.
This is God’s amazing blessing, his amazing Grace.
