671 days — but who's counting?
It has been 671 days since we closed the Cenacle Prayer Card Office (January 29, 2021) and today (December 1, 2022), the launch of our reimagined and resurrected Cenacle Prayer Card Ministry!
We suspect, actually, that many of you have been counting! If not the days, the pleas and prayers you offered for this treasured ministry, our beautiful cards, and the inclusion of your loved ones in the prayers of the Sisters to be a reality once again. And, alleluia, alleluia, 671 days later this is the best answer we have to offer for your prayers.
We have been surprised by the Spirit. A serendipitous meeting occurred among our Office for Ministry and Mission Advancement, Devco Foil Printing (the company that has manufactured our cards for the past three decades), and Deluxe Corporation, an on-line card and e-commerce provider. After several engaging and energizing meetings, this innovative team submitted a win-win proposal to our Leadership Team. These staff members and partners in mission have been very hard at work re-creating prayer cards, Cenacle Prayer Cards, in a sustainable, feasible way given the limitations our Community has experienced both in Covid restrictions and in the evolution of religious life.
When you visit the website, you will see many familiar cards, although fewer, as we aim to streamline the selection [large folder cards will not be available for order until mid-December]. A calligrapher re-painted some cards for digitization as we have moved to personalized digital printing. Our intent is to start small and grow into this new format of a time-tested ministry. This unexpected joy, this happy announcement of a reimagined Cenacle Prayer Card Ministry was inconceivable in the winter of 2021; but, through your persistence and prayers, we all see that it is a time to build, to rejoice and give thanks for God’s fidelity and desire to continue to use us for God’s divine good pleasure in our world today.
We thank you for staying with us throughout this mystifying journey. We look forward to welcoming your requests and walking more closely with you, again, throughout the steppingstones of your life.
