Every resident who is not counted is a loss of $18,250 per person over a 10-year period. Statewide, that's a total of $26.6 billion over a 10-year period. Census data impacts government representation, county services including funding for the following: roads, schools, SNAP, CHIP, WIC, school lunches, community funding, future planning for transportation, housing, schools, emergency response teams, economic development and even job opportunities.
Why should you participate in the Census?
Residents should complete the census because it is safe, easy, and important.
Safe: Your personal information is confidential, including citizenship and other sensitive data, by law. Disclosure of personal data is subject to fine or imprisonment.
Important: Data from the census provides the basis for annually distributing more than $675 billion in federal funds which help fund our roads, schools, hospitals, Medicaid, and many other programs.
