THIS WEEK'S NEWS

New Member Sunday - October 26

Interested in Church Membership? Feel like Centenary could be your new church home? We’d love to welcome you into our church community! New Member Sunday: October 26. To learn more, please contact Pastor Emily: srpastor@centumc.org

All Saints Sunday ~ November 2, 2025

On All Saints Sunday, November 2, we will honor and remember those who have joined the Communion of Saints. During this service, we will toll a bell for each person from our community who has died in the past year. We will also give thanks for all the saints — the faithful across generations — whose lives have shaped our own. If you would like us to include the name of a family member or loved one who has died since last All Saints Sunday, please send their full name to admin@centumc.org by Wed., October 29.

Monday, October 27 at 6:00pm

St. Paul's Front Steps - 815 E. Grace Street

Please join us in a show of sacred solidarity during this time of trial and turmoil in our city, commonwealth, and country. In this brief, simple outdoor service of prayer and praise, we witness to the suffering of the most vulnerable and powerless among us and lift up our lament, fear, and hope to God’s redemptive and healing power. United as One Body, we make known the love and justice of Jesus of Nazareth for the poor, the oppressed, the sick, and the stranger. This service is hosted by St. Paul’s in collaboration with the Downtown Community Ministry. Free parking available in St. Paul’s garage at 111 N. 8th Street. Contact Rev. Gwynn Crichton (gcrichton@stpaulsrva.org) for more information.

REMINDERS

Clean City Commission

Saturday, October 25 at 10am

Join the Serving team on Saturday, October 25 to clean up the blocks around the church. We will meet in front of the church at 10:00am and fan out to pick up trash in the blocks near the church. Graspers, garbage bags and reflective vests will be provided. We usually cover the area in less than 2 hours and may go to lunch somewhere in the area if there’s interest.

Habitat for Humanity

Centenary Build on November 8

We have sponsored a house being built on the southside. If you are interested in joining us on November 8 to help with this build, please sign up at the Welcome Table in the back of the sanctuary. Space is extremely limited! Sign up now! For more information, please contact Pastor Emily. srpastor@centumc.org.

Join us via Zoom on Wednesdays at 10:00am as Pastor Emily guides us through a look at the scriptures for the upcoming Sunday.

A reminder email with the Zoom link will be sent out on Tuesdays. If you received the Bible study email in the past, you are still on the list! If you are new to the Bible study, please contact Laura (admin@centumc.org or 804-648-8319) in the church office with the email address you would like to use for the reminder.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Friday Lunch Outreach

Our Friday lunch program for the homeless has been feeding the hungry for over 30 years. On October 10 we served 118 guests as fellow Christians from Bon Air UMC join with Centenary volunteers to prepare, serve and clean up.

Please keep this ministry in your prayers.

Mission

Our mission is to change the world through love.

To acknowledge God’s love is, for each of us, a life-changing event.

As followers of Jesus, we share God’s love for all people, and work together to make our world a better place, one life at a time.
