NEXT SANDWICH MAKING NIGHT IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21
Our second Sandwich Making Night will be held next Thursday, October 21, from 7 to 8:30 p.m in Room 20 at the church. At our first event, held on September 30, nine volunteers produced 145 sandwiches. The total would have been higher, but we underestimated the speed of our sandwich makers and ran out of bread. Nancy Rapp took the leftover cold cuts home and made an additional 56 sandwiches, bringing the grand total for this first effort to 201.
Many thanks to our volunteer sandwich makers who included Nino Martino, Shirley Kanchi, Sonia Kanchi, Cathy Savoia, Rohan Punith, Pastor Sooah, Nancy Rapp, John Wooding, and Bob Carlson. Special thanks also go to Grace and Paul Manjourides for buying and donating most of the luncheon meats, and to Pastor Sooah (ham, sandwich bags, and jelly) and Cathy Savoia (tablecloths) for their donations.
The sandwiches are delivered to New Dover UMC in Edison, where
every Friday morning a team of volunteers packs them and a variety of other items into sandwich bags that are distributed to the hungry through food pantries in Elizabeth, Plainfield, and Rahway.
If you would like to participate in our next Sandwich Making Night, sign up in the church lobby on Sunday or contact Bob Carlson at
