Sponsor the 2026 Centennial Birthday Party

The Fayette County Bar Association invites its members to be a part of history by becoming sponsors of our Centennial Celebration on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Limestone Hall. This once-in-a-generation event offers a meaningful opportunity to showcase your support for the legal community while gaining visibility among colleagues, leaders, and guests from across the region. Sponsorships will help make this milestone celebration truly memorable, honoring our past and investing in the future of the FCBA. We hope you will consider partnering with us for this special occasion.

Visit the FCBA Centennial Celebration page on our website to explore a growing collection of oral histories celebrating both the FCBA’s 80th Anniversary and upcoming Centennial Celebration. These recordings preserve the stories, memories, and experiences of members of our legal community who have helped shape the Fayette County Bar Association over the decades. We are continuing to add new oral histories, so be sure to stay tuned and check back often as this important historical archive continues to grow.

As part of our Centennial celebration, we are proud to introduce the Centennial Oral History Project—an initiative dedicated to preserving the voices and experiences of FCBA members. Through recorded interviews with FCBA members, we are capturing personal reflections, professional milestones, and meaningful moments that have shaped the Association over the past 100 years. This project honors the legacy of our membership while creating a lasting archive that will inspire and inform future generations of leaders. We are honored to share our Centennial Oral History Interview with Justice Mary Noble!

Volunteers Needed: Expungement Clinic – August 20

The FCBA is looking for 8 volunteer attorneys to help make the Clean Slate Expungement Clinic a success on Thursday, August 20, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Davis Park Workforce Center, 501 De Roode St.

No criminal law experience? No problem! This clinic is designed for attorneys from all practice areas. Before the event, volunteers will complete an on-demand training that includes 1.5 hours of FREE CLE credit, so you'll have the knowledge and confidence to assist participants. Experienced attorneys will also be on-site throughout the clinic to answer questions and provide guidance whenever you need it.

During the clinic, volunteers will review criminal records and advise individuals on whether they may be eligible for an expungement. There is no expectation of ongoing representation after the clinic unless you choose to continue assisting a client.

This is a meaningful opportunity to serve our community, earn 1.5 hours of FREE CLE, and make a real difference in someone's life while connecting with fellow FCBA members.

If you're interested in volunteering, please sign up—we'd love to have you join us!

Go Back to School with the Transy Book Heist On-Demand CLE!

The Transy Book Heist: Inside Lexington's Most Infamous Rare Book Theft, is an in-depth look at one of the most unusual and widely publicized crimes in Lexington history. In 2004, priceless rare books were stolen from the special collections library at Transylvania University, bringing national attention to the Lexington community and its historic university.

Join defense attorneys Fred Peters, Pat Nash, Adele Burt Brown, and Mike Mazzoli; prosecutor David Marye, for a behind-the-scenes look at the investigation, prosecution, defense strategy, and courtroom dynamics surrounding this extraordinary case. Presented from both the defense and prosecution perspectives, the session will provide unique insight into the legal and personal challenges faced by those involved. The panel will also discuss the case's lasting cultural impact, including its portrayal in the movie American Animals, and how the events continue to resonate in Kentucky legal history and popular culture.

The Transy Book Heist CLE has been accredited by the KBA CLE Commission for 1.5 hours of CLE until June 30, 2027.
