Centennial College: Looking Towards 2021
As this tumultuous year draws to a close, we look forward to 2021 with tremendous hope, knowing that new vaccines will be introduced to curtail the deadly coronavirus. Because the course of the pandemic can’t be predicted, we can only speculate as to how quickly life will return to normal in our communities and our campuses.

What we do know is that we will continue to embrace change to face our future, requiring us to draw on resilience and empathy while we adapt ahead of the next disruption. To help guide our progress, we’re building Centennial’s excellence in six key areas that define our aspirational goals and differentiate us among other learning institutions:

Student-centric – putting our students first in all of the ways we interact, facilitate success and serve them;
Agile learning – offering highly flexible, online, face-to-face and hybrid learning opportunities, aligned with industry and employer needs;
Environmental stewardship and green innovation – embracing urban-based land resource learning, and connecting urban Indigenous and all interested learners with the land;
Social justice, entrepreneurship and innovation – further developing our institutional strengths and skill sets to leverage in service of the diverse communities we engage with;
Employer relations – ground-breaking work, training and research with small to medium enterprises, engaging more deeply with GTA employers; and,
Inclusive employment culture –  Centennial has a highly inclusive, empowered and high-performing culture – an employer of choice.

Centennial College facilities will remain closed to the public until further notice, and for more information about online services and further support, please visit our COVID-19 Information Centre.

Centennial College Virtual Homecoming 2020
Homecoming, year-after-year, is the time that we in Alumni Engagement bring the Centennial College community together to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones and gain a sense of what has been going on at college.

We are proud to share with you that our first virtual Homecoming was a great success. By collaborating with many of our internal departments at the College, we were able to offer a wide array of online events throughout Homecoming week this past October, allowing the Centennial community to tune in from all parts of the world!

This Giving Tuesday, Help Centennial Students in Need
As 2020 nears its end, far too many Centennial students are continuing to struggle with food and housing insecurity as a result of the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.

That’s why, with Giving Tuesday quickly approaching on December 1, we’re asking the Centennial community to take a stand for students in need by donating to the Student Emergency Fund – a new resource launched to help vulnerable students access nutritious food and housing supports.

If you don’t want to wait until Giving Tuesday, you can give online right now. Every single gift will be matched by Centennial College up to a maximum of $25,000, doubling the impact of your contribution.

How Centennial’s Partnership with COBS Bread Bakery is Helping Alumni Rise
Graduating from Centennial’s Baking and Pastry Arts Management program in the middle of the pandemic, Kamalpreet Kaur wasn’t sure what her future would look like. Faced with a struggling economy and limited job prospects, she worried – like millions of students around the world – that her dreams would be put on hold.

But her worries were short-lived. In August, shortly after graduating from her two-year program, Centennial partner COBS Bread reached out to Kamalpreet offering an internship at their Applewood Plaza location in Mississauga. She’s since been hired on full-time.
