PTSA Reflections

"Let Your Imagination Fly"

The CHS PTSA Reflections program kicks off in early September, and all students are invited to start thinking about ideas for entries based on this year's theme: "Let Your Imagination Fly."     Reflections is a great tool to unleash your artistic talents in six different categories: Photography, Dance Choreography,

Visual Arts, Musical Composition, Film/Video Production, and Literature. Student entries are judged at the school level.  The winners advance to the North Fulton

County level and then to the state level. Students whose entries win at the school level are recognized on Honors Night.  Multiple entries are encouraged.  The deadline for entries will be mid October and the exact date will be announced once school starts.   To gather more information please contact Richard Raeside at or 770-641-6252.

Centennial School Governance Council (SGC)
The Centennial SGC is excited about the start of our 3 rd year as a Governance Council.  We are in the process of evaluating possible RFFs for the upcoming year.  An RFF is a Request for Flexibility - a request to waive our school from having to follow a particular state requirement.  For example, a Centennial RFF that we had approved in our inaugural year is the Personal Fitness Waiver.  Centennial Athletes, ROTC and Band members can waiver out of Personal Fitness.
Come check out our STEM and Humanities Co-Labs.  We are in the process of converting old computer labs to our new Co-Labs with Seed Money granted to our Centennial SGC earlier this year.
The Centennial SGC members for 2015/2016 are:
Chair - Caroline Truax
Vice Chair and Outreach/Communications Chair - Karen LeCates
Secretary/Parliamentarian - Courtney Allen
Finance/Budget Chair - Shellie Marino
Jeremy Bennett
Diane Jacobi
Bob Kuhn
Marcelle Male
David Smith

Accident  Avoidance  Workshops
Driver trainin' the way it ought'a be!
Question: If there was a captivating program you could attend with your student, that would reduce the likelihood of them being involved in an accident by more than 75%, would you attend?  And if so, how much would that be worth to you?  How does less than ½ of your insurance deductible sound?
Whether building confidence in new drivers, or knocking the hot-rods down a few pegs, the Accident Avoidance Workshops' goal is to save lives by positively impacting new drivers' development, in both their decision making abilities and the physical skills necessary to maximize on their own vehicle's capabilities without losing control of their vehicle, or themselves.
The Workshops are comi ng back to Centennial High School this October and spaces will go fast. Don't delay, sign up today.  Click here for more information and for a complete schedule, or call 770-262-7009.  If you are ready to register you may click here.

Remember to Use your Publix Scan Cards!

Do you know that the CHS PTSA has received over $14,000 from Publix over the years?!  That is a lot of money - and it takes no effort at all.  Just use your scan card every time that you make a purchase at Publix.  If you do not have a scan card, you can get one at the front desk.  They are available throughout the school year.  You or your student can pick up extra cards for grandparents, friends and neighbors to use.  Everyone buys groceries, and having these cards scanned when you shop at Publix is an easy way to help CHS PTSA!

Connect your Target Card to Centennial!

Target REDCard sends 1% of purchases to our school and saves you 5% at Target stores every time you shop - another win-win!
