The Offshore Wind Training Institute

Led jointly by Stony Brook University and Farmingdale State College, the Offshore Wind Training Institute was launched by New York State in 2020 to collaborate with SUNY institutions, NYSERDA, private and community colleges and various industry partners – including labor unions and workforce organizations – to develop a talent-rich ecosystem for Long Island’s growing offshore-wind sector.

Focus areas include labor supply and demand, climate-equity priorities, regional economic development and localized supply-chain opportunities, with heavy emphasis on research and development, skills training and workforce education, including undergraduate degrees and advanced graduate-degree certifications.
