Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) is one of the five Nanoscale Science Research Centers created by the U.S. Department of Energy to investigate, understand, and exploit the unique characteristics of materials and phenomena at the nanoscale. The CFN has a dual mission to serve as a user-oriented research center for the nanoscience community and advance the science of nanomaterials that address the nation’s energy challenges. Each year, the CFN welcomes hundreds of scientists from academia, industry, and other labs to conduct research accessing its state-of-the-art facilities and in-house experts.
