AI in Academia: What are Large Language Models (LLMs) - Food for Thought Series

These casual discussions over the lunch hour provide opportunities to learn about emerging ideas and challenges in higher education, spotlight experienced instructors sharing innovative teaching practices, and provide an environment for friendly discussions in a low-stakes environment. In other words, no homework is required!

Trauma-Informed Care Webinar Series

Participants will leave the sessions with skills and tools to build and maintain a culture of care, including the following:

  • Practical steps to provide support to students and colleagues who may be experiencing trauma or distress
  • How to build a culture where individuals who are struggling can get the help they need
  • How to implement self-care practices that ensure healthy boundaries and protect us from burnout

Online Course Developers Workshop

The Online Course Developers Workshop is open to all faculty and instructional staff at UW-Parkside. The 2023 OCDW will be fully online, asynchronous, and self-paced.


The goal of the workshop is for each participant to produce a fully online course that will be taught at some point during the next academic year.


There are two stipends associated with the workshop. The first stipend is earned for successful completion of the workshop components and the creation of an online course for Parkside. The second is earned when the course passes an in-house, modified Quality Matters review and is deemed ready to be taught online.


New faculty and/or interested academic staff are encouraged to apply as they see fit.


To apply for the workshop, please submit the following to lawlerm@uwp.edu:

  1. a one-page summary of the course you plan to develop in the workshop and any experience you have with teaching online already
  2. a letter of support from your department chair

The Innovations Studio has been rebuilt in Wyllie L107A and is available for use. If you are interested in creating video content for your course(s), please send an email to schlechs@uwp.edu to schedule time.


You can create standard lecture videos, use the glass lightboard, green screen, document camera, and more!
