Food is Medicine as a concept has been gaining momentum as an effective approach for healthcare systems to mitigate and treat chronic disease and improve overall health for their patients.
At the Center for Health Equity, we are excited to announce the launch of our Design, Measurement and Evaluation Core to support the Food Is Medicine movement locally and nationally.

Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics, and Environmental Sciences Assistant Professor Jemima John, PhD, has been awarded a $388,000 NIH K01 grant to utilize a systems-level perspective to examine the impact of a patient-informed Medical-Legal Partnership intervention on health-harming legal needs in pediatric families enrolled across UT Physicians clinics.

Heidi Hagen McPherson, MPH was awarded The Network of Behavioral Health Providers (NBPH) Program Champion for the Harris County Pathways Community HUB in recognition of her work with community stakeholders to improve care coordination. Since 2019, McPherson has collaborated with NBHP advising their Harris County Pathways Community HUB initiative.
