Helping sustain small businesses in your community after COVID-19

As businesses are reopening in Texas, small business owners are feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Small businesses, which make up a large portion of all communities, may have a harder time in the recovery process.

It is up to all of us to help sustain the small businesses in our own communities. Many have answered nationwide calls to help small business by donating, ordering food from them, and buying gift cards and gift certificates. While this has helped some, the loss of sales and inability for many to qualify for Paycheck Protection Program or Small Business Administration loans may have dire consequences and many companies will have to close their doors.

- desire to reach MORE people

- want to create services/products

- want to know how to serve your audience to the best of your ability

- identify your target audience and how to talk to them

- learn how to engage with an audience online and in-person

- authentically use social media + Facebook groups

- cultivate a presence online that attracts the right clientele

Find Your Why

Leadership expert, Simon Sinek, says it's not enough to know what you do and how you do it. At our essence, we are most motivated by knowing why we do things. And it's through that awareness that we can best connect with and sell to others.

Do you know your WHY?

Your WHY is the purpose, cause, or belief that drives every organization and every person's career.

"People don't "buy" what you do, they "buy" why you do it. -Simon Sinek

Here are a few questions to ask yourself to get started:

Ask yourself WHY 5 times. Keep going deeper each time you ask yourself. Why does it matter? Why is it important?

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Who do you want to be?

These questions won't give you the answer, but they will get you started in the right direction.
