NEWSWORTHY
Falsettos Hits the Roth/Resler Stage October 13

Gallery Players opens its monumental 70 th season with the Broadway Tony-Award winning musical, Falsettos on October 13 at 8 p.m. in the Roth/Resler Theater at the College Ave. JCC.

One of the oldest and longest running theaters in central Ohio, Gallery Players continues its tradition of delivering strong performances that run the gamut of the Jewish experience. Falsettos originally premiered in 1992 and was nominated for seven Tony Awards, taking home Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. With book by William Finn and James Lapine, and music and lyrics also by William Finn, the musical tells the story of a large, dysfunctional – yet loving, Jewish family in New York in the 1970s. With mixed and matched love triangles and non-traditional family values, Falsettos has become a Broadway classic and will entertain audiences at the JCC through October 28, 2018.

Under Musical Director Allan Finkelstein and choreographer Tonya Kraner, songs come to life on the JCC stage. Director Ross Shirley emphasize the themes placing importance on love and family.
“This show is very significant to the LGBTQ community and the Jewish community,” Shirley said, “It’s a beautiful story that helps clue-in people on what goes in to being in a non-traditional family. It shows why it is important to stand strong together in the face of a hardship and to support and love each other.”

Will Macke stars as Marvin, Jay Rittberger as Whizzer, Rachel Hertenstein as Trina, Nick Van Atta as Mendel, Elliot Hattemer as Jason, Heather Carvel as Charlotte, and Jordan Shafer as Cordelia.

Show times are as follows: Saturday October 13, 8 p.m., Sunday October 14, 2:30 p.m., Thursday October 18, 7:30 p.m., Saturday October 20, 8 p.m., Sunday October 21, 2:30 p.m., Thursday October 25, 7:30 p.m., Saturday October 27, 8 p.m., and Sunday October 28, 2:30 p.m.
