WithinReach's DEI Newsletter: April 2023

"Climate Justice is our dream; our balanced future taking shape on the landscape of our hearts, minds and bodies."

This April, WithinReach would like to center both Earth Month and International Mother Earth Day (April 22)! Earth Day was created in 1970 to bring environmentalism to the forefront, raise awareness on environmental concerns and learn how we can be good stewards of the Earth. In learning how we can take care of our planet, there is no better way to do this work than to listen to and learn from Indigenous communities, the original stewards of these lands. From minimizing damage from wildfires, keeping water clean, preserving lands or connecting with nature through familial places and traditions, Indigenous people have been and continue to be at the frontlines of climate action.

In honor of this month, let’s learn from indigenous land stewardship, support indigenous people’s fight to reclaim stolen lands and rethink our relationships with nature that are rooted in colonialism and white supremacy.
