2019 Half-Day Retreat Series
The Trinity
  Saturday May 18, 2019
The Trinity

In the name of the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit

The purpose of these half-day retreats is to deepen our awareness of God's transforming presence in our lives.

The Trinity represents the epicenter of all creation and is at the heart of Christianity. Yet it remains a mystery to many. Since the last century spiritual thinkers have rediscovered the critical relevance of the Trinity for our interaction with God and each other. The emphasis is on the relationship in the Trinity and the eternal giving and receiving between the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, and importantly with each member of the human family, as we are all invited into that divine dance as co-creators in the universe. This view of the Trinity also offers a bridge between religions and science.

The morning will include three 30 minutes periods of centering prayer and a reflection on the Trinity with a discussion of its relevance today based on spiritual writers like Richard Rohr and Cynthia Bourgeault.

Centering Prayer is a  receptive method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself.

This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. Centering Prayer emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God and as a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Christ.
