Breaking ground on Water Education Center

Groundbreaking for the Water Education Center (WEC) was May 1, and was officially marked with a small ceremony for the Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board of Directors (CAWCD) and members of the design (Jones Studio) and construction (Mortenson) teams. The WEC will be an accessible and secure space where people can learn about CAP’s history and operations, as well as Arizona’s water story. It will provide an understanding of CAP, complete with safe, up-close views of the canal and hands-on, interactive exhibits. The new space will also support many functions including CAWCD Board meetings, large water stakeholder meetings, elected official briefings and school field trips. The WEC is on a tight construction schedule and is scheduled to be completed and open in late 2026.
