Note from the Principal
To Our CenDen Families:

Wisconsin students in 3 rd through 8 th grade will once again be participating in the Wisconsin Forward Exam. Our third graders are scheduled to take the test April 6 th through April 9 th. This year’s test for third graders is comprised of six subtests in the areas of reading, writing, language, and math. We will be giving two subtests each day of that week so it is EXTREMELY important that your child is in school. Students who are not in school on the testing days will have to make-up the assessment prior to the closing of the testing window.

The Wisconsin Forward Exam measures the knowledge and skills that your child should have acquired by the time they reach third grade. Their performance on the assessment will not have an effect on any of their current grades, but it is an important assessment so please encourage your child to take the test seriously and do the very best they can. The results of these tests help school staff make decisions on student needs and instructional practices.

Between now and the testing dates, we will be preparing our third graders for the test. It is an online assessment that is new to them, so teachers will be taking the time to familiarize the children with the many tools that the test offers. We have various practice tests and some classroom activities that will help with the test taking process as well. Our students did well on the test in the past, and I believe that is in large part due to the practice opportunities and the comfort level that they had for the test. We have found that frontloading helps to reduce stress on any test or assignment. This test is no different.

The following web address will take you directly to the Forward Exam details that are shared on the DPI website. Please feel free to browse the site or stop in and I would be happy to help you navigate through the site.
I feel very optimistic as we move into this assessment window. I look forward to sharing the results.
