Happy November!

What a busy start to the school year! Time flies when you are busy learning and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn something new every day.

The first quarter of the school year is complete and our teachers are finishing their grading and preparing report cards be sent home on November 8 th.  Our Parent/Teacher Conferences are just around the corner. This is an important time for you to share celebrations and concerns regarding your child’s progress. Because we believe in working together as a team, your questions and input are very important to us and are vital to your child’s success. Our evening conferences will be on Thursday, November 7 th from 4:00-7:30. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out to confirm a time that works for you.

While you are in the building at conferences, as a volunteer, or just dropping something off, please check out our Lost and Found area. There are many sweatshirts and light jackets that have been left on the playground and are since unclaimed. Because the winter season is drawing near, requiring snow pants, boots, and other winter attire, we STRONGLY urge you to label your child’s belongings. For example, black snow pants are very popular and therefore get mixed up easily. It is very helpful if your child’s name is written on a tag somewhere so that their items can be easily identified as they are hurrying to dress for recess.

American Education Week is November 18 th through the 22 nd. Please take a few minutes to discuss the importance of education with your child. Be sure to share some favorite memories of when you were in school, maybe a favorite teacher or special event. Please celebrate public education and those who work very hard to bring quality learning to each student, every day.

Thanksgiving is drawing near, reminding us that there are many things to be thankful for at Central-Denison. We have a beautiful building that is filled with children who are excited about learning and a dedicated staff who work very hard to make learning meaningful and fun. We serve families who continually show their support to our mission and a community that values education. Thank you for sharing your children with us. We are most grateful.

AG Science Day 2019
Third graders spent time learning about agriculture science at Badger High School on Friday, October 18 th . The hands-on experience exposes the children to the career pathways in the world of agriculture and excites them for when they will be students at the high school.

Parent Reminders

SCHOOL HOURS:
The first bell rings at 8:45 a.m. Student should be in their classroom by 8:50 a.m. Students will be marked tardy at 8:55 and after. The dismissal bell rings at 3:50 p.m.

MORNING DROP OFF INFORMATION:
Just a reminder that you may NOT drop your child off before 8:30 a.m. Student will enter at 8:30 a.m. for walking club or breakfast. We do not have student supervision before that time.

We encourage all families to use our drop off zone located on Cook Street for 4K, 5K and 1st Grade and Madison Street for 2nd and 3rd Grade.

PICK-UP and BUS CHANGE INFORMATION :
If you are picking up your child for an appointment during the day, a parent or guardian needs to call the office at 262-348-4000, send a note with the student or write on your child's communication card to let us know. If there is a change to the way your child is going home at the end of the day, a parent or guardian will need to send a note or call the office before 3:15 p.m.


If there is a change to your child's normal bus routine, we require a note or a phone call by a parent or guardian to the school, 262-348-4000, to make that change.   Please do so before 3:15 p.m.

STUDENT ABSENCE:
If your child is absent please call Central-Denison at 262-348-4000 to report the absence before 9:00 a.m.

PLANNED ABSENCE REQUEST
If you are planning a vacation or a trip and your child will be out of school for three or more days, please complete a Planned Absence Request. Please call the Central-Denison office at 262-348-4000 for a form, complete and the Principal will approve.
NEW  Important information regarding student health and welfare and helpful information about: when to keep your student home, medications at school and the district's new cough drop policy.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

I f you are going to be volunteering at Central-Denison (field trips, PTO events, classroom help, etc.) the Administration at the District Office requires a background check to be processed. Forms are available on-line or you can stop by the Central-Denison Office to request a form. Please note: the District Office needs two weeks to process the form.

Background checks are good for three years, so if you are unsure of whether you are still approved, you can call Central-Denison at 262-348-4000.

4K Registration

To register for the 2020-2021 school year, parents may pick up registration packets at the District Administration Center, 208 South Street, Lake Geneva.

Print , Complete and Return the registration packet to the District Administration Center. 
NEW & EXCITING for this school year, we will be using the Box Tops for Education App

Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earnings online.

Notes:
*We still want kiddos to turn in cut out box tops that they find as it will take a while to completely phase those out.
* We want families to download the app, super easy. Then they just simply scan their receipt after they go to WalMart, Target, etc. It's truly so easy and such an easy moneymaker for our school!
