From the Principal's Desk

CHS Colleagues,

It is with great excitement to welcome everyone back to Central High School for an amazing 2023 - 24 school year. I hope you took time for yourself to do the things you enjoy and you are returning to CHS ready to welcome back our students and new staff. The start of the year is always a special time with new students and faculty, new relationships, and exciting conversations beginning anew after the summer months. Being a part of the Bulldog family brings many rewards and moments of happiness as we strive to give every child a quality education to help improve the lives of our students each year. It is an honor to lead and collaborate with an amazing staff to achieve Bulldog P.R.I.D.E. and continue to build upon the Central High School tradition of academic excellence.

I would like to send a special welcome to our new faculty and staff members. Thank you for choosing to work at Central High School and Springfield Public Schools. I would also like to thank our returning staff for your support to continue to make CHS the best school in Springfield Public Schools and nation. Your perseverance and dedication to our students at Central High is remarkable. CHS is an amazing place due to your hard work and commitment to excellence!

As we strive to give every child a quality education, I encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity to help improve the lives of our students, yourself, and your colleagues this year. It is one’s passion, respect, integrity, discipline, and determination of excellence that drives the force to be successful. It is our goal as an Administrative team to develop teacher leaders and provide support in all aspects to ensure continuous growth within the school community. Our continued success will be created by empowering, motivating, and inspiring teachers and students to embrace challenges and believe they have the power to achieve anything. We will continue to work to establish a culture of structure, support, accountability, and growth mindset among all staff and students to ensure professional and academic success. Working together as a team, we can accomplish this and so much more to ensure our students are college, career, and world ready. 

I am thankful for each one of you, and I appreciate having such a talented and dedicated staff. Together, we will continue to improve our service to the students and families of our community. I look forward to an amazing 2023-24 school year.

Student and Staff ID Badges

To ensure safety for all, CHS students and staff are required to wear identification badges at all times while in the building. There are exceptions for certain classes and activities as directed by the teacher. ID Badges serve a variety of purposes; to identify all persons on campus, to scan for purchasing food/drink items in the cafeteria, and as a way to check-out books from the CHS library. Additionally, all students must wear their school ID badge for entry to any SPS athletic event.
