King's Dream: Then and Now

County Executive Steve Schuh and Anne Arundel United will host a special event honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to include a screening of his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech and presentations by experts called “King’s Dream: Then and Now.”   The event will take place on Tuesday, January 16, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pascal Center for Performing Arts at Anne Arundel Community College. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
Monday, January 15
On January 15, 2018, the nation will pause to remember the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The City of Laurel will honor his legacy by holding a day of community service event beginning at 11 a.m. in the City Council Chambers of the Laurel Municipal Center. It is located at 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD. It will be a “day on-not a day off” in Laurel. Mayor Craig A. Moe and Councilman Fred Smalls will speak at the welcoming ceremony in the Council Chambers of the Laurel Municipal Center beginning at 11 am on the 15th. For more information click here .

Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration
Sunday, January 14
The Howard County Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission will present its annual celebration of the life and legacy of civil rights leader Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, Jan. 15 at Long Reach High School, 6101 Old Dobbin Lane in Columbia; the reception will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the program at 3:00 p.m. The celebration is free to the public; however, attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to support Howard County’s Food Bank. This year’s event will feature recognition of the 2016 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream” award recipients and Student Essay Contest winners. For more information click here .

Inclement Weather Policy

Because the Central Maryland Chamber serves members in several counties, the following inclement weather policy has been established:

If any one of the three county school systems (Anne Arundel, Howard, Prince George’s) closes due to inclement weather, all chamber activities for the day will be cancelled.

If any one of the three county school systems has a 2 hour delay, all chamber activities prior to noon will be cancelled.  

If any one of the three county school systems closes early due to weather, all chamber evening activities will be cancelled.
