Your leadership and hard work were absolutely essential to the success of the day. Thank you for making it all happen and for creating such joyful memories for our school community!

Thank you also to everyone that stuffed the Cradles to Crayons Cruiser during the Central Carnival to help end clothing insecurity in Chicago!

Central Math Night | October 16th | Volunteers Needed!

We are so excited to announce our Central School Math Night, brought to you by Andrea Reiser Cummins and Bonny Skutch, on Thursday, October 16th from 5:30-7:00 pm.

Come experience math the way your child does at school -- hands-on, engaging, and fun! Using resources from Bridges math curriculum, families will explore classroom activities, gain insight into how math is taught, and learn how to support learning at home. Please RSVP here so that we can get an accurate count for planning purposes.

This is a great opportunity to build confidence in the curriculum, connect with Central School, and discover that math is for everyone. We are looking for 2 parent volunteers from each grade to arrive at 5:00 pm and help the night run smoothly! Click the button below to sign up.

Let’s learn and grow together!

Central Spotlight | Meet the Teacher/Staff

Name: Jessie Sutker

What is your role at Central?: Kindergarten Teacher

What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?: I love kindergarten. Every day my kindergarteners make me laugh, surprise me with their big ideas, and remind me how special it is to see the world through their eyes.

If you could time travel, what time period would you choose?: Early 90s! Paul Frank t-shirts and Backstreet Boys!

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have one children's book with you, what would it be?: Any Todd Parr book. His books always have a good message.

What is the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?: I am not an adventurous eater, but I know ketchup on a hot dog is frowned upon in Chicago, so probably that.

What secret talent do you have?: I love to draw, and my kindergarteners know it. They’re also my toughest critics.

What is the most important lesson you want your students to learn? To be kind. It has always been my number one rule because kindness reaches farther than anything I could ever teach. It builds friendships, creates a safe classroom, and ripples out into the world long after they leave kindergarten.

Fall Adventure Guides Registration is Open!

Only 4 spots remain for the first campout for the '25-'26 season with North Shore Adventure Guides! We are looking for dads and daughters for grades K-5 to come make memories together.

This is an ultra low lift for dads, with a 1.5 day campout in nearby YMCA camps in Wisconsin. Dads and daughters sleep in log cabins, learn archery, canoeing, arts and crafts, climbing walls, eat s'mores, and learn the sacred Adventure Guide Poem "Friends Forever." There are 2-3 campouts a year. Click here to signup.

October/November Birthday Books

Is your child celebrating a birthday in October or November? Mark the occasion by signing them up for Birthday Books!
