Our purpose is making and nurturing disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Servant Leader
by Tom Norrell
Pentecost is here and we celebrated joyfully this Sunday via social media. We are moving from fear to faith in this season. Rev. Dr. Paul Wood and the (Evangelism/Communication/Marketing) Committee are forging ahead in planning for better and more extensive social media presence during and after the COVID-19 crisis. They are seeking to address a new audience. Our webpage address with passersby. Paige Wolfe and Gina Hamer are doing a great job communicating in new ways. We will be keeping our new innovations even after COVID-19 passes! In this stressful time, God's Spirit is working with us and within us, as we become more visible, audible, flexible and welcoming witnesses to God's love, in our rapidly changing society.
We are slowly reopening!
We will begin worship, OUTDOORS Sunday, June 14th, at 9:00 AM in Central Park. (We are not meeting at 11:00 AM to avoid the summer heat.) We will move indoors only when the infection rate allows.
The office will be open Monday through Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00 AM - 12 Noon. At the entrances of our buildings are sanitation stations with sanitizer, masks, and gloves.
Our committees and study groups are growing comfortable with Zoom meetings.
In this season of Pentecost, I sense a new joyful commitment to innovation and learning new ways of discipling others.

Barbie Bordogna has made a beautiful Central U.M.C. banner. It is based on the Art Nouveau windows in Central's sanctuary. It will be unveiled at our outdoor worship on June 14, and will be displayed at Annual Conference, Interfaith Worship Services, parades, and our display table at gatherings in Barnet Park. Thank you, Barbie!
