A World Where Aging Is Honored

CVCOA's Busy Dog Days of August
Dog Days of August may be upon us, but there is a good deal to report from CVCOA! We have a new registered dietician for our Nutrition Program, attended the National Area Agencies on Aging Annual Conference, and are working to improve health outcomes through our Medicare & You program...and CVCOA tee- shirts have been on the road...!

Stay Cool Tips...as the heat and humidity persist this summer, let's review some tips for older Vermonters to stay cool--visit our webpage , How to Stay Cool .
CVCOA's Medicare & You Workshop Increasing Knowledge before Enrollment
Studies show that Medicare & You workshops such as those offered by CVCOA improve familiarity and knowledge about Medicare while also increasing enrollment. In Lamoille County, CVCOA is leading an effort to improve participation in this workshop for those turning 65 or who are under 60 and disabled. Recently, Rorie Dunphey, RN, from Family Associates of Cambridge wrote an article promoting CVCOA's workshop and the potential health impact on patients who do not have enough information about Medicare enrollment. Read Rorie Dunphey's Article Here
T o register for the workshop, call 802/479-0531 or email medicareworkshops@cvcoa.org . If you are an employer interested in scheduling a “Medicare & You” workshop for your employees, please contact CVCOA at (877)379-2600.   Visit our website for the Workshop Schedule

If you want to partner with CVCOA's Medicare & You outreach in Lamoille County, please contact Mary Hayden, mhayden@cvcoa.org for posters and more information.
CVCOA recently contracted with a new registered dietician to serve our Nutrition Program. Jean Copeland, R.D. of Randolph will assist CVCOA's Nutrition and Wellness Director, Kathy Paquet to assess clients referred for chronic disease prevention dietary plans. Jean will also advise CVCOA's 12 meal sites on menu development to improve the nutritional content of Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals for older Central Vermonters. Jean will also provide outreach and education for meals recipients and the public. Watch for more information on our Nutrition Webpage. Welcome, Jean!
