Restoring Connection for the Hearing Impaired


For those living with hearing loss, the world can feel muted, like trying to navigate a conversation through a pane of glass. Everyday activities—catching a child’s laughter, following the flow of a meeting, feeling part of a room—can seem just out of reach. However, in Centre County, the William W. and Helen S. Litke Memorial Fund for the Aid and Assistance of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired is quietly reshaping that narrative. With nearly $43,000 in grants distributed across four local organizations, this fund is doing more than providing resources—it’s restoring connections and reframing possibilities.

Centre Foundation Joins the PA Giving Pledge to Secure Centre County’s Future


Centre Foundation is proud to announce its participation in the PA Giving Pledge, a statewide initiative uniting 41 Pennsylvania community foundations inspiring residents to leave at least 5% of their estates to support charitable causes in perpetuity. This effort, spearheaded by the Pennsylvania Community Foundation Association (PACFA), builds upon the national Giving Pledge, launched in 2010 by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, and focuses on strengthening local philanthropy.

Coffee with the Foundation: A Huge Success!


We had an incredible turnout at our four "Coffee with the Foundation" events across Centre County, connecting with changemakers dedicated to making a difference.

Local nonprofits met Nathaniel Rasmussen, our new Community Impact Director, and Krista Williams, our Grants & Scholarships Coordinator, to share their stories, explore funding opportunities, and learn about Centre Foundation's new strategic plan.

Centre PACT Teens Talk with Local Philanthropists at "Why We Give" Panel.


Centre PACT participants had the opportunity to engage with the "Why We Give" panel featuring Centre Foundation donors. During the discussion, students explored the power of philanthropy and its potential to create lasting change in their community. The panelists shared personal stories, inspiring the teens to think about how they can make a difference by supporting causes they care about. This experience encouraged the next generation of community leaders to embrace the spirit of giving.



Centre PACT’s Philipsburg Trip: Combatting Hunger in our Community.


Our Centre PACT (Philanthropic Actions Created by Teens) 

participants took a trip to Philipsburg, where they packed food for the Moshannon Valley YMCA’s Anti-Hunger program, supporting both the Backpack and Veterans programs.


Working alongside Mel Curtis, YMCA Branch Director, from noon to 4 pm, the students packed food for distribution and learned about food insecurity in Centre County. They also gained insight into the YMCA’s efforts to support families and Veterans facing these challenges.

State College 2025 Racial Day of Healing: Uniting Voices for Change.


Centre Foundation’s team participated in the 2025 State College Racial Day of Healing, centered around the theme, “Bring Your Voice.” This event encouraged open dialogue about racial issues while highlighting the importance of community involvement in building a more inclusive society.


The day underscored the collective desire for positive change and empowered individuals to contribute to meaningful discussions on racial justice.

We are excited to announce that scholarship applications for Centre County area high schools are beginning to open for applications! This is a great opportunity for students to earn financial support for their education. Below are the application periods and key dates for each district:
