Greetings!

May brings the best week of the year in my humble opinion. National EMS Week gives us our chance to be in the spotlight! We are excited to celebrate our associates for the great job they have done all year long.

I was very pleased to participate in my first EMS on the Hill Day on April 15. I had the opportunity to virtually meet with Senator Casey and Toomey's office, as well as Representative Wild's staff. Several key pieces of legislation were discussed to help further the world of EMS. I want to thank all of you for taking the time to meet.

Every other month I host an internal Town Hall meeting for our associates to keep them abreast of important information. In conjunction with that, we started a new recognition for our associates that have STEMI Alert transports. Both the Paramedic and EMT will receive a special pin to denote their efforts in helping to save a patient's life. In total I handed out 7 MI Alerts and 7 ALS Assist pins the April event. Thank you Medics Bryan Artz; Jeffery Hoffman (2); Eric Savarese; Steve Narkin; Krista Benner; and Bruce Bray. And, EMTs Gabriela Noga; Padraic Daraghy; Alysha Messer; Kathleen Fadule; Zachary Hottinger; Michelle Lukitsch; and Daniel Riga. (See pins pictured above.)

Heading to Mayfair Festival of the Arts this year? Be sure to stop by and say hi to our associates who will be there in case of any emergencies.

We'll also be at Upper Macungie Township's Movies In The Park night on May 21 and June 4. You can find out more on their website. Stop by for some free goodies.

Stay well,

Robert F. Mateff Sr.
Chief Executive Officer

National EMS Week
National EMS Week is being celebrated May 16 - 22 in 2021. This year's theme is "THIS IS EMS: Caring for Our Communities." The theme reflects the need to remind people that we are still here to respond, support, and care for the needs of the communities we serve.

Each day takes on a different focus to not only educate our associates, but the community as a whole.

Monday: Education Day - our focus will be on strokes. Every second matters!
Tuesday: Safety Day - our focus will be on mental health awareness.
Wednesday: EMS For Children Day - we invite you to stop by our parking lot area for some freebies for the kids! Lehigh Valley Health Network will be offering free car seat safety checks (registration recommended); meLVin the Lehigh Valley Phantoms mascot will appear from 1-1:30 p.m.; Take-A-Taco and Bananarama food trucks are offering food for purchase from noon - 2 p.m.; and more! Various activities including live demonstrations and ambulance tours will be from noon - 3 p.m.
Thursday: Save-A-Life and National Stop the Bleed Day - We'll be making a push for you to learn CPR. Catch us live on Facebook with a CPR demo at 10 a.m. and a Stop the Bleed demo at 6 p.m.
Friday: EMS Recognition Day - We'll be celebrating with our associates and thanking them for the amazing job they all do on a daily basis.

Getting to Know Us
Supervisor Jason Carita may be one of our newest, but his passion to help others started years ago

Cetronia Ambulance Corps has four supervisors to lead two platoons. One of those supervisors is Jason Carita. Jason strives for high morale on his team by trying to build a strong rapport of mutual respect with them.

Get to know Jason, here.
PA Primary Election - May 18
It doesn't matter which political party you belong to for the Primary Election being held May 18. All Pennsylvania registered voters will be able to vote on the ballot questions of which there are four.

One question in particular involves EMS. The question reads: Do you favor expanding the use of the indebtedness authorized under the referendum for loans to volunteer fire companies, volunteer ambulance services and volunteer rescue squads under 35 PA.C.S. §7378.1 (related to referendum for additional indebtedness) to include loans to municipal fire departments or companies that provide services through paid personnel and emergency medical services companies for the purpose of establishing and modernizing facilities to house apparatus equipment, ambulances and rescue vehicles, and for purchasing apparatus equipment, ambulances and rescue vehicles, protective and communications equipment and any other accessory equipment necessary for the proper performance of the duties of the fire companies and emergency medical services companies?

Who is in favor? The measure passed the legislature with unanimous support from both the Democrats and Republicans. The Pennsylvania Fire Emergency Services Institute is urging a “yes” vote, as is the Pennsylvania Career Fire Chiefs Association.

We join with fire and EMS leaders from across the state of Pennsylvania and ask you to vote "yes" to approve the referendum on Act 2020-91.
