(Hayward, Calif., Nov. 14, 2025) - Chabot College (Chabot) celebrated a major milestone on October 21, 2025, with the groundbreaking of its highly anticipated Football Stadium and Track Renovation Project. The event marked the beginning of an exciting transformation that will bring state-of-the-art athletic facilities to campus, benefiting student-athletes, programs, and the region.
The project, funded through the Measure A Bond program, will include a new turf field, a reconfigured NCAA/CCAA regulation track with updated jump event areas, and modern amenities for up to 2,000 spectators. Visitors can look forward to upgraded bleachers, accessible pathways, improved ticketing and restrooms, and energy-efficient lighting paired with enhanced sound systems to elevate the game-day experience.
“This groundbreaking represents the start of a new chapter for Chabot College athletics,” said Dr. Jamal Cooks, president of Chabot College. “Our new stadium and track will be more than a facility; it will be a gathering place for students, athletes, families, and the wider community. We are proud to create a space that inspires excellence, celebrates teamwork, and strengthens community connections.”
Designed to serve both Chabot’s academic programs and community events, the new complex will become a vibrant, multi-use hub that supports physical education, competitive sports, and local partnerships. The upgrades also reflect Chabot College’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and accessibility, with modern design features that reduce environmental impact while enhancing comfort and safety for fans and athletes alike.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together Chabot College leadership, student-athletes, alumni, and community partners to celebrate the future of athletics on campus. Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD) Board of Trustees representatives, CLPCCD Chancellor Ronald Gerhard, project architects, and several of Chabot’s teams, including cheer, football, and track, joined the celebration, showing their support for the transformative project.
Construction is underway, with completion anticipated in early December 2026.
