A note from Tobee...

Dear Raker Families,

It is time for RABYO!  If you have 9-12 graders, please join Rabbi Langowitz for lunch this Sunday. Meet in the lobby at 12:15 and off you will go to IN & OUT! Enjoy!

There is a fabulous book I just finished reading and I want to recommend your teen read it. The title is REFUGEE by Alan Gratz. It is a story about three different kids, in three different time periods with one mission in common: to escape their countries for a chance of freedom. While the three young people are fictional characters, their stories are based on true events.
JOSEF: a Jewish boy living in 1930s in Nazi Germany.
ISABEL: a Cuban girl in 1994 setting out in a raft for America.
MAHMOUD: a Syrian boy in 2015 leaving his war torn home for a chance at a new life in Europe.

Alan Gratz is an acclaimed author for Young Adults. His many honors include Best Book of 2016, by Kirkus Review,  Projekt 1065, Prisoner B-3087,  a Junior Library Guild Best Fiction for Young Adult and  The Brooklyn Nine  which was among Booklist's Top Ten Historical Books.

I want to thank you for your concern and support these last several weeks as I have been dealing with the death of my husband, Jim. I could not have asked for a more caring community than Temple Solel, and for that I feel very fortunate.

Chag Sameach!
