PARSHAT BESHALACH
Morah Shayna Davis
In Parashat BeShalach we encounter one of the greatest miracles to ever occur - Kri’at Yam Suf, the splitting of the sea. Bnei Yisrael cross the Red Sea on dry land, surrounded by walls of water, while the Mitzrim who try to follow them are drowned by the raging waters. Moshe Rabbeinu breaks into song as he praises Hashem with the prayer we now know as “Az Yashir” and Bnei Yisrael join him in celebrating the miraculous feat Hashem performed for them. Miryam, along with the other women of Bnei Yisrael even begin to dance and sing - “בתופים ובמחולות” - with tambourines. The obvious question arises of course - where did the women get these tambourines from??

TRIP TO THE HOLOCAUST MUSUEM
This week our 7th and 8th graders went to the Zekelman Holocaust Center. They are reading The Diary of Anne Frank in class. At the museum, they were able to view a sapling from the 170-year-old white chestnut tree that Anne Frank could view from her hiding place, the tree she wrote about in her diary. Students also were able to view an actual box car that was used to transport Jews to the death camps. Thank you Mrs. L-F, Mr. Kaplan, Mr. Wyma and Rabbi Leib for chaperoning the trip.
