A MESSAGE FROM OUR CNT PRESIDENT

Raise your hand if you’ve ever driven across the country from Georgia to Calgary, Alberta in Canada.

I returned this past weekend—via plane—after a six-day drive to Calgary to help relocate my daughter, Sydney, who starts graduate school at the University of Calgary next month. It was a wonderful journey, with plenty of stops and lots of time to reflect along the way.

As I traveled across the country, I found some interesting parallels between that journey and our journey as a synagogue community.

First, Congregation Ner Tamid is much more than a building or a Religious School, just as the states and cities we traveled through were much more than places on a map. Each is a community made up of unique people, with different interests, perspectives, experiences and backgrounds—and each has its own needs.

At CNT, we have people who have been part of our community for decades and value the familiarity and traditions that make us comfortable. We also have newer members who bring fresh ideas, energy and a desire to experience something more. Both are important to who we are and where we are going.

Second, just like a highway, our journey isn't always smooth. There are stretches of open road, but there are also bumps, detours and stormy moments. A strong community is one where we come together, support one another and navigate those challenges together.

Finally, when we're constantly going and going, it's important to stop, breathe and reflect. At CNT, we have that opportunity every Friday night—to pause from the rush of the week, connect with one another and reconnect spiritually.

To those who have been part of CNT for years, thank you for your contributions and for helping build our community. To those who are newer or brand new, welcome! We are grateful you chose to be part of this community, and we look forward to getting to know you and having you become an active part of our journey.

There are many miles ahead, and I look forward to traveling them together.

Family Apple Picking in Ellijay

It's almost Sukkot time, and what better way is there to observe the holiday than picking some apples! Gather the family to spend a beautiful fall afternoon harvesting your own apples at Hillcrest Orchards in Ellijay, the “Apple Capital of Georgia”! We will drive up separately and meet up at 11:00 am. Bingo and Brownies

We had a great time Saturday night at Bingo and Brownies night! Young, old and in between, we were on pins and needles waiting to see if we would be able to call out "BINGO!"And our sweets table was full of delicious goodies, like brownies, cookies, and even babka twists!
