COMMUNITY PHOTOS: SUKKOT AND SIMCHAT TORAH!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CNT PRESIDENT

Last Friday night we celebrated Shabbat and Simchat Torah at the same time. The Sanctuary was full of families, two torahs were unrolled across rows of several tables and we paraded around the sanctuary with music, smiles and joy!

Simchat Torah is one of my favorite holidays for so many reasons. We celebrate the beginnings of the Torah along with a number of students who are starting their Jewish Studies at Congregation Ner Tamid via a Consecration Ceremony.

We celebrate the conclusion of the Torah which coincides with the conclusion of the trio of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.

And now we turn to opportunities for fellowship, building deeper community connections and enjoying time with each other with some upcoming events.

On November 1 we welcome our male members to congregate at Yom Tov Benmeleh’s house for an evening of home cooked Brazilian steak and side dishes. Hopefully his wife Kelli will make one of her amazing desserts for us! This is followed by poker night for those interested.

On November 8 the ladies are invited to our temple for a Sisterhood craft night.

We then welcome everyone to attend the Atlanta Kosher BBQ Festival on November 9 between 12-4, where we will have our own table. Please stop by the CNT table to say hello!

Finally, we invite the community for dinner (followed by services) on Friday November 14, thanks to the Atlanta Jewish Federation's Gather Grant program.

Before we know it, in December we will celebrate Hanukkah and our 10th annual Menorah Lighting at the Square!

Let’s enjoy the next several months of community, fellowship support, fun and camaraderie.

With a focus on Community

Community Snapshots

Sukkot Shabbat

CNT Members had a wonderful time at Sukkot services and "Pizza in the Hut". Thank you to Rabbi and Leslie Prass for hosting!

Simchat Torah

We had a great evening celebrating the Torah! We laid out two Torahs on long tables and everyone was able to get a close look, while Rabbi Prass gave a little explanation on how the scrolls are written, answering questions people had. We also formally welcomed our new religious school students in Consecration. At the close of services the kids helped lead the congregation in the motzi and kiddush, and we all enjoyed Mr. Rob's chocolate chip cookie challah!
