Rabbi Bearman took 5 students from Temple B'nai Chaim to Washington D.C. where they spent an extended weekend at a L'taken Social Justice Seminar learning how to be effective advocates. On the last day of their trip, the students spoke to our congressional representatives' aids and explain how their Reform Jewish values inform their opinions on a specific topic.

On January 31st, we will welcome our students back to TBC and hear them deliver the speeches that they prepared and presented in DC!

Making Midrash: A New Adult
Education Series From TBC

February 2: Making Musical Midrash with Student Cantor Hamstra
April 5: Making Artistic Midrash with Rabbi Bearman

Sundays, 10:00 am - 11:30 am

For more than two thousand years, Jewish people have used a technique called  MIDRASH to relate to the biblical texts.  MIDRASH is an expansion of our textual tradition that comes from asking questions about, exploring gaps within, and projecting ourselves and others into the Hebrew Bible. You can read more about midrash by clicking  HERE.

In  MAKING MIDRASH, we'll be exploring and learning about three types of midrash:  literary, musical, and artistic. Then, in the weeks after our classes, those who are interested will have the opportunity to work with Rabbi Bearman and Student Cantor Hamstra to  CREATE their own examples of midrash!

**Important notes:
No matter what your level of Jewish knowledge / writing ability / artistic skill is, you'll find a lot to learn and love in  MAKING MIDRASH because we'll all be learning and working together!

Everyone is welcome at  MAKING MIDRASH regardless of whether you'll be attending one, two, or all three of the classes!

.
Additionally, we would like to invite the entire community to a SPECIAL SERVICE OF DEDICATION on MAY 15, 2020. If you have any questions, please call TBC's main office (203-544-8695). We would be happy to help you in any way that we can.

URJ Northeast Camps, TBC Scholarships!

Every summer, thousands of Reform Jewish children and teeangers spend their summers immersed in the wonderful, inspirational, and tremendously fun environments of URJ (Union for Reform Judaism) camps. As campers are rock climbing, painting, dancing, or singing their hearts out, they are doing it all through a Jewish lens.

TBC has always done all that we can to help send our students to URJ camps, and this year, thanks to a generous donation, we're able to do even more!

We are thrilled to announce that a member family has chosen to support other TBC families' ability to send their children to URJ camps by providing funding for  need-based scholarships to Reform Movement summer camps.

If your family would like to be considered for a need-based scholarship to a URJ camp, please reach out to Rabbi Bearman. She'll schedule a conversation with your family where you can talk about how TBC can best help your child attend camp next summer.

It may be cold outside, but summer is just around the corner! Don't miss this opportunity!
