Adult Ed Presentation and Brunch: Jonah, A Whale of a Tale
This Saturday, October 8, 10:30 am to 12:00

Jonah, the major text for the afternoon service of Yom Kippur, is an ironic, satiric and profound fable of repentance and renewal. In this presentation on the book of Jonah, TBC members Judson Scruton and Bruce Miller will explore the rich cultural and historical interpretations of the book, one of the Twelve Prophetic Books in the Hebrew Bible, in order to provide a deeper personal and collective engagement with the themes of the High Holy Days. Join us on a fabulous ride into the belly of the beast and out into the world. Please email or call the Temple Office so we have an estimate of the number of people who will be sharing the meal with us: [email protected] or (203) 544-8695.

Save the Date for Stop Hunger Now - Saturday, October 22

Save the date! On Saturday, October 22 , TBC will be participating as a congregation in the 6 th annual Stop Hun ger Now packaging event in Wilton. Last year we packaged over 164,000 meals that were sent to Haiti. TBC was well represented by about 90 volunteers.

You may also send a check to TBC and note that it is for Stop Hunger Now.

Our goal is to package over 160,000 meals this year and raise $3500 as a Congregation that will fund 12,000 meals which will be sent to hungry chi l dren in developing countries.   This year each meal costs $0.29, so $1.45 buys 5 meals, $15 buys 52 meals and $100 buys 345 meals.

The sign-up will be later in September and further details will be provided soon. Don't forget that children 5 and older can help (our 5-year-olds last year had a fantastic time and really contributed!). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Don Weber at [email protected] .  If you would like to support this event,
