Don't you wish there were a way to ease into the nostalgic fun of our 40th anniversary party? Well there is! Join us on December 9th as we use the words and music from Gates of Prayer: The New Union Prayerbook (published in 1975!) for a special 70's style Shabbat experience! Make Hannukah Happy for Wilton Jewish Families!

Here's a way to make a difference this Hanukkah for some needy Jewish Wilton families. Through the good works of the Wilton Department of Social Services, we've been asked to support several Jewish Wilton families who celebrate Hanukkah by providing a $100 Gift Card for each of 15 children in these families. Think about all the gifts you give to your children each year...and then think about how you could really make a difference for these families.

All you have to do is click on http://bit.ly/tbctzdon and donate what you can to the TBC Tzedakah (Social Action) Fund and indicate the donation is for "Make Hanukkah Happy for All Kids!" Our Social Action Committee will purchase the gift cards and deliver them to Wilton Department of Social Services.
Calling all Torah Chanters

At the Ritual Committee Meeting, we decided that we would start chanting again on our Friday night services.  We have the following dates picked: January 13, March 24, April 21, and May 12.  The readers or chanters will be given ample time to learn the verses.  Don't worry, it won't be as long as your Bar or Bat Mitzvah! If it was your parsha, and you want to do it again, this is a great chance for you.  If you have never read from the Torah and have always wanted to, please recognize that this is your chance to do so with your community.  Please contact me at [email protected].  Russ Robbins, Chair Ritual Committee.
Shabbat Potluck - Friday, January 13

Please join us for a community pot luck dinner prior to services on Friday, January 13  , at 6:30.  Please bring a vegetarian dish to share with old and new friends and families prior to services.  We look forward to sharing a Shabbat dinner with you.  Please let us know how many will attend, and what you will bring. Email [email protected]  Russ Robbins, Chair Ritual Committee.
Share Your Simcha! Sponsor Shabbat, Oneg, Preneg or Flowers

A wonderful way of celebrating special simchas, such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, the birth of a child or grandchild, is sharing your nachas with the entire congregation by sponsoring the Shabbat Oneg, Preneg or Flowers for the Friday of your special week. No special occasion? You can still sponsor a Shabbat! We will arrange for the flowers, food and set-up, all you do for your family to sponsor is make a minimum donation of $125 for an Oneg, $180 for a Preneg or $250 for the flowers at  http://bit.ly/tbconpns
Volunteer information for Jewish Senior Services

Please call or email Ellen Ashkins if you are interested in volunteering at JSS.  There are many wonderful volunteering opportunities including one-to-one visits, writing letters, transporting residents to activities, and hospice care.  At JSS, giving back to the community is not just a cliché, but a way of life.

New Hospice Training Program!  The goal is to have trained Hospice volunteers in clusters all over Fairfield County so that when the need presents itself, volunteers do not have to travel far.  Chaifetz Family Hospice will be holding a two day Hospice Volunteer Training Program for anyone interested in giving their time and compassion to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Training will be held at Jewish Senior Services, 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT on Sunday, February 5th and Sunday, February 12th from 9:00am-4:30pm.  Training materials and meals will be provided free of charge.  If you would like to sign up or to learn more about hospice training, please contact Ellen Ashkins at (203) 365-6417 or by email at [email protected]
TBC Social Action - Help Haiti for Hannukah!

Hurricane Matthew devastated Haiti in early October, killing more than 900 people, leaving 175,000 people homeless and a million more struggling to survive.

TBC Social Action is encouraging donations to Medical Aid To Haiti (MATH), a group of surgeons, nurses and others based at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford who are providing significant help on the ground in Haiti.  Peggy and Steve Zamore worked at a small hospital in Haiti last year and have been following the truly terrible aftermath.

A video providing more detail about the situation is available here. A donation to MATH is the best way to help provide food, water and other help to the desperate people affected by this disaster.
Helping build a Better World...One (Lego) Piece at a Time

We are excited to announce a new initiative here at TBC! We are working to weave the idea of Tikkun  Olam (acts of kindness to help make the world a better place) into our Religious School curriculum and build bridges between TBC students and the local community.

We are thrilled to have partnered with The Carver Center in Norwalk, CT to focus our efforts to introduce social action into the TBC Religious School.  More information here!
