My name is Dean Schenker. I am a native Angeleno, born off the Hollywood Freeway late in WWII. After growing up in various neighborhoods around the city, I moved to Berkeley for undergrad, Michigan for grad school and Russia for doctoral research. Since I got married 42 years ago, I have lived where Beverlywood joins Cheviot Hills.

Wondering how you can register for new events even before the Friday newsletter comes out?
Just go to our website at
ChaiVillageLA.org.
At the top of each page is a horizontal blue and white bar. Click the word "Events" and you will see our very full calendar. Yellow events are ChaiVillageLA events and blue events are temple events open to village members. Click on an event title to see more information including a "Register Now" button where you can sign up.

Our last drives at two high schools, Palmdale and Beverly Hills, may have been the most fun of all.
