Special Event with Kalman the Scribe
This Monday, August 20 at 7:30 pm!

One of the leading scribes (calligraphic artists) is The Jerusalem Scribe Kalman Safrut (Kyle Delmoor). Kyle was born in Minnesota, raised in New York and made aliyah to Israel where he has a workshop in an historic Sephardic synagogue in Old Jerusalem. Kyle's individually commissioned and designed verses of Torah are in much demand. One of his inscriptions adorns an international peace prize. An example of his work is The First Day of Creation shown below. Kyle is in the U.S. for a short visit giving workshops in California and New York. TBC is delighted and honored to be able to welcome and be inspired by him. Come join us on Monday night, August 20 at 7:30 for this demonstration/workshop/talk. You might even learn how to write your name in elegant Hebrew calligraphy. R.S.V.P. to Judson Scruton to give us some idea of how many of you will be coming.

Selichot Service and Study Session
Saturday, September 1, at 7:30 pm

Selichot is the holiday dedicated to making sure that our hearts, minds, and spirits are ready for the High Holy Days. This year, we will gather at Congregation Shir Shalom ( 46 Peaceable Street, Ridgefield) at  7:30 pm on  Saturday, September 1 for an evening that will include learning, conversation, and a beautiful Selichot service. All are welcome.
Moving the Bimah, Sunday, September 2 at 10:00 am

Have you ever wondered how the Bimah moves to its new location for the High Holy Days? Well this year you can not only find out but can help us move it. We need a group of people to help move the Bimah on  Sunday, September 2 at 10:00 am. All you need to bring is yourself and be willing to help push a big object.

We will also need volunteers to help us set up the prayer books for the services. This will take place at  11:00 am on  Saturday September 8 and 15 after Torah Study as well as volunteers to help move the Bema back after on  September 23.

Our ancestors carried the Ark for 40 years in a desert. All we need is a few hours of your time in an air conditioned building. Thank you in advance for helping us prepare for the High Holy Days.

Please RSVP to Russ Robins at  ritual@templebnaichaim.org.
