Next TBC Book Group
September 16, 2020 at 7:30 pm
For the next TBC Book Group, we will be reading "Lincoln and the Jews" by Jonathan D. Sarna and Benjamin ShapellIn this groundbreaking work, the authors reveal how Lincoln's remarkable relationship with American Jews impacted both his path to the presidency and his policy decisions as president. The book uncovers a new and previously unknown feature of Abraham Lincoln's life, one that broadened him, and, as a result, broadened America. To register for our discussion, click here.
At the beginning of each month, Chailites will include a list of individuals who have made a contribution to TBC in the prior month to thank them for their support. For this issue of Chailites we are thanking the following individuals who have generously contributed to TBC from May 2020 through July 2020.

We Want You!
(Your Photo, That Is)
As we prepare for the High Holidays, we want to include photographs of our congregants in our service to help us all feel connected to one another. Please send a photo (jpg format) of you and your family to President@templebnaichaim.org by August 25 to be included. The photos do not have to be at TBC.
In Our Community
This is a new monthly feature in Chailites. If you have news you want to share, please send the information to chailites@templebnaichaim.org.
This Week's Torah Portion
This week's Torah Portion is R'eih Deuteronomy 11:26-16:17 "See, this day I place before you blessing and curse." In it, God places both blessing and curse before the Israelites. They are taught that blessing will come through the observance of God's laws. Included in this parasha, Moses' third discourse in his final sermon to the Israelites, are laws about worship in a central place; injunctions against idolatry and self-mutilation; dietary rules; and laws about tithes, debt remission, the release and treatment of Hebrew slaves, and firstlings. Moses also reviews the correct sacrifices to be offered during the Pilgrim Festivals-Pesach, Sukkot, and Shavuot.

Buy Grocery Cards - Help Support TBC!

Stop & Shop, Caraluzzi's, and Stew Leonard's have agreed to sell the Temple gift cards at a discount of 5-10%. Our congregants purchase the gift cards (they look just like credit cards) from the Temple at face value and use them as cash when shopping at the participating supermarkets. They may be purchased in increments of $100. Please email certificates@templebnaichaim.org if you have any questions and to purchase the cards.
Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques at TBC

During this challenging time, we know that many of us are thinking of loved ones who have passed away. We invite you to commemorate the lives and blessings of your loved ones with a memorial plaque. A special service of dedication for the entire community will be scheduled at TBC when that again becomes possible. Ordering information is available here.
